Your challenge was threefold: |

1. Figure out how to get the function to perform the animation with the hwnd property set to 0 as described in the function documentation. |

2. Come up with an example that uses the IDANI_OPEN and IDANI_CLOSE animation parameters. |

|

3. Come up with an explanation that reconciles the behavior of the function in the example with the documentation. |

2. I have not found a way to make these work on Windows 95, 98, or NT 4. |

3. My best guesses (and I stress, these are just guesses) are (a) that this is a Windows bug or (b) that the function was defined according to a certain specification but never fully implementedand nobody bothered to tell the folks who did the documentation. |

When I wrote my book Visual Basic Programmer's Guide to the Win32 API, I did a fairly good job of covering the majority of API functions that might be of interest to a Visual Basic programmer. In my wildest dreams I did not expect Windows to grow in complexity as quickly as it has. The power of the Win32 API has grown immensely, well past the point where any author can translate it all for use by Visual Basic programmers. |
